Conflict Resolution & Professional Mediation

Conflict Resolution & Professional Mediation

Mediation is a form of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). It is a private, confidential process that allows parties of a dispute the opportunity to find an amicable resolution or reach a settlement agreement outside of the court system. A mediator is a neutral third person and assists two or more parties with resolving their conflict/dispute.

Mediation provides an opportunity not afforded through formal court proceedings. In court, a judge or other legal authority decides for the parties, often without the parties having the opportunity to express themselves or their wishes freely. The parties can then be forced to accept a judgment with which they may disagree and have had no significant input. By participating in mediation, parties can find a legally binding and mutually acceptable resolution without the hassle, expense, and exposure of a court proceeding.
